The Tanjong Katong Complex is located in the Geylang Serai district of Singapore at 845 Geylang Road. Opened in 1983, it is one on the older malls in Singapore and features a wide array of shops and includes a Giant Supermarket. It is also great source for traditional clothing and textiles.
The Tanjong Katong complex is spread over four levels, the first three of which are dedicated to retail stores and the fourth floor houses the centre’s restaurants and some offices near Tanjong Katong Complex.
The Giant Supermarket is the anchor retail tenant in the mall besides Tanjong Katong Complex and Singapore Post Centre. Other significant tenants and tenant categories include food shops, several health and beauty shops, wedding, flower and gift shops, several optical and watch tenants, and numerous shops dedicated to furniture, textiles, interior furnishings, interior design, fashion, fashion accessories and several other similar services at Park Place Residences by Lend Lease.
Given its location in the heart of the Geylang Serai district, the nearest train access point to the Tanjong Katong Complex is the Paya Lebar MRT Station, about ten minutes walking distance away. Next to and across from the Tanjong Katong Complex are Bus Stop numbers 82119 and 82111, and nearby bus access points include Bus Stop Numbers 82011, 82029 and 82109. There is also a car park next to the Tanjong Katong Complex for travel by car.
Notable annual events in the district surrounding the Tanjong Katong Complex include the Hari Raya Light Up in June through July during the month Ramadan. There are also schools such as Geylang Methodist Primary School and Geylang Methodist Secondary School. The Hari Raya Light Up includes traditional Malay performances and cooking demonstrations as well as Kampong games all as part of brilliant light displays throughout the district for Malays and non-Malays alike.
